Mastering Depreciation in SAP: Understanding the Differences Between Test and Final Depreciation Runs

The test depreciation run and final depreciation run in SAP are two different types of runs used to calculate and post depreciation for fixed assets.

The test depreciation run is used to simulate the depreciation calculation without posting the actual depreciation amounts. This allows you to check the depreciation calculation and make any necessary adjustments before posting the actual depreciation amounts. The test depreciation run can be run as many times as needed until you are satisfied with the results.

The final depreciation run, on the other hand, is used to post the actual depreciation amounts to the general ledger. This run is performed after you have verified the depreciation calculation in the test depreciation run and made any necessary adjustments. The final depreciation run updates the asset accounting and general ledger with the depreciation amount for each asset.
