Simplify Your Depreciation Process: How to Set Up Depreciation Posting Areas in SAP

Depreciation Posting Areas in SAP are used to define the different types of depreciation areas and assign them to the relevant ledgers. Each depreciation area represents a different type of depreciation, such as book depreciation, tax depreciation, or group depreciation. Here is the process for setting up depreciation posting areas in SAP:

  1. Define Depreciation Areas (T-code: OADB) Go to transaction OADB, and define the depreciation areas based on the depreciation method and other requirements.

  2. Define Ledger Groups (T-code: FAGL3KEH) Go to transaction FAGL3KEH, and define the ledger groups to which you want to assign the depreciation areas.

  3. Assign Depreciation Areas to Ledger Groups (T-code: AFAMA) Go to transaction AFAMA, and assign the depreciation areas to the relevant ledger groups.

  4. Assign Depreciation Areas to Asset Classes (T-code: OAYZ) Go to transaction OAYZ, and assign the depreciation areas to the asset classes.

  5. Specify Depreciation Areas in Asset Master Record (T-code: AS01/AS02/AS03) When creating or modifying asset master records, specify the depreciation areas that should be used for each asset.
